Agnes on Travel

"Socrates said that philosophy is a preparation for death. For everyone else, there’s travel."

From my favorite maverick U Chicago philosophy prof, Agnes Callard.

Socrates said that philosophy is a preparation for death. For everyone else, there’s travel.
The Case Against Travel
It turns us into the worst version of ourselves while convincing us that we’re at our best.

The article makes telling points about most people (I daresay) who travel. However, in the end I disagree. As usual, I disagree with Chesterton, so that's not a surprise. (It's very odd to find him cited so authoritatively in this article.) Well worth a read and a ponder.
Despite the likely delusion of my introspection, travel has definitely changed me, including my life's course.
